"Today's announcement by the U.S. Department of Education on local Race to the Top grants for the Guilford and Iredell-Statesville school systems is terrific news," said Gov. Bev Perdue. "This is another example of North Carolina being recognized for innovative educational ideas. These Race to the Top funds will assist in our long-standing commitment to education. I congratulate Superintendents Maurice Green and Brady Johnson on winning these grants and pursuing new ways to improve student achievement and prepare our children for college and career."
